Week Four

Hello 2A Families! Galileo Pre-Testing will be on Monday. Please have your child eat breakfast and get plenty of rest the night before!  Also, I am still awaiting Media Releases from the front office. Once I have those, you'll start seeing amazing pictures of what we are doing in class! :)  We will continue our study of the geography of the Americas this week. Your child will learn about Central and South America. Ask your child to tell you who Simon Bolivar is and where the Andes Mountains are.  We will finish up our unit on the seasons this week. The last season we will talk about is Summer! Ask your child about how the Earth's tilt affects the seasons.  Math : This week we are heading right into our math facts! Addition, subtraction, and looking at word problems. What are some word problems you and your child can create from everyday activities like grocery shopping, or cooking? Hello 2A Families! Curriculum/Math & Phonics Night : Please join us on Wednesday  evening for Curriculum/Math & Phonics Night!  Your child will have a note waiting for you and there will be a place to surprise them with a note back!  There will be NO HOMEWORK on Wednesday evening. We hope to see you! Week Two

Dear 2A Families, We did it! We finished our first week of 2nd grade! It was so much fun getting to know everyone and get right to work. Photos will be added to the blog once I have a media release form from the front office. On Next Week's Episode of 2nd Grade Math :  In math we are continuing our review of place value and counting. Wednesday we have our first quiz! Tuesday night's homework will mirror what is to be expected, so your child will have a chance to familiarize themselves with what is to be expected. Encourage your child to re-check their answers and work on good quiz taking skills like process of elimination! History:  We will continue exploring maps and globes this week, comparing them as well as zooming in on land features that create Earth's beautiful landscape. Students will learn about volcanoes, mountains, valleys, prairies, coasts, deserts, and oases. Please review these terms at home and see if you can spot any interesting landforms in the

Week One

Good afternoon 2A Family! It was such a pleasure meeting everyone Thursday evening! I recognized quite a few faces from over the years at Arete, and I'm excited for our new faces that will be joining us. I can tell we have a strong and warm parent community already. Look forward to a blog post between Friday evenings (on rare occasions it will be Saturdays). It will detail what to look forward for the upcoming week and any supplies that will need to be brought in. If you have not already brought in your child's supplies, you do have until Tuesday to make sure all supplies are here. We do start with learning right away on Monday!  I have 1/3 of our class that have responded to our 2A Parent/Student survey ! Please take a few moments to fill this out, as it really helps to establish relationships and understanding family dynamics.  We are looking for our Class Parent Team and Community Volunteers!
