Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear 2A Families,

I am very thankful for this year for the support from our parents. You have helped to make this a very transparent and helpful classroom community, and it brings me great joy. I wish for all families to have a beautiful Thanksgiving Break, and may it be filled with food, fun, and rest.  <3

Library Books are due TOMORROW (We will not be here the 29th so it helps to turn them in tomorrow or the Monday we return).

As the semester draws to a close, Archway Arete teachers are hard at work drafting narrative evaluations for each of their students. This labor of love requires many hours of intentional reflection and to facilitate this process, our teachers are given one work day to focus on writing these evals. On December 9th, I will be away from the classroom writing narrative evaluations. If you are interested in supporting our classroom during my absence, please email me. Thank you in advance!

LITERATURE
Scholars are completing a character traits writing project based on The Boxcar Children this week. The Boxcar Diorama is due on December 9th. This week is important for gathering materials and needed supplies. Please reach out if you have an extra shoebox you can donate to the cause!

POETRY
Scholars should be well on their way in memorizing "The Night Before Christmas." Please help them prepare their part of this well-beloved poem. Recitations begin December 16th.

SPELLING
There are no spelling words this week. Second grade scholars will be reviewing spelling rules in class. There will be no spelling homework.

GRAMMAR & WRITING
Students are reviewing content this week.

HISTORY
This week we are learning to be warriors, so young boys left their home to undergo intense training. Ask your child about how life was different in Sparta than in Athens.

SCIENCE
We will continue our study of insects next week. Your child will learn about the life cycle of insects. Remind them that we learned about the life cycle of butterflies earlier this year.

MATH
This week we are continuing to practice both our Multiplication and Division concepts. Encourage your child to experiment with the different ways we have learned to solve problems in class (arrays, grouping, etc.).

With Grateful Hearts,
Mrs. Guevara and Mr. Kiehne
